See what you always looked at to see what you never saw before
Ton Valk from Hasselt is 'by nature' a nature photographer. He can be found outside a lot. Ton photographs everything that grows, blooms, jumps and flies. This can be a beautiful reflection of a water plant, a robin that outwits a fish or a damselfly that has just come out of the water. Warm atmosphere are shots of cows in the morning mist and tranquil landscapes. His eye for detail makes the shots interesting. With his photo collection he shows us, which we may not have noticed at all.
Ton, born in May 1956, had a camera at an early age to photograph everything that came before his lens. Started in the analogue era with an analogue SLR camera, later he switched to a digital device.
Photography is a passion for Ton, or as he himself says: “It's a hobby that got out of hand, in which I like to invest a lot of time. Subjects enough, there is a lot that catches my attention. Nature, the seasons, close to home or far away. With the photos taken in our own environment, show how beautiful it actually is here. I always experience nature and would like to share this experience. I can spend hours on a subject. Lots of macro, because subjects that are familiar to the eye turn out to have very special details. And then prefer to see, that which someone else has not (yet) seen. That really gives a kick! Showing what you don't see.”
