Biography
Erik Speksnijder (Schiedam, 1971) works as an ecologist in the province of Zeeland. Here he is mainly concerned with monitoring of the so-called target species (qualifying species) and other special species. This is also visible in his photographing. Erik mainly makes macro photos of special plant species, mushrooms and insects. He also has a great love for wild bees and other sting-bearers and he likes to photograph beach finds.
Eriks' favorite areas are Oranjezon (Vrouwenpolder), De Schotsman (Kamperland), the beach at Neeltje Jans (Vrouwenpolder) and the Kwade Hoek (Goedereede).
Specialism
Eriks' specialization is macro photography, in particular of butterflies, wild bees, wasps, grasshoppers, mushrooms and beach finds. He especially spends a lot of time in photographing the various wild bees.
