A bird symbolizes the ultimate freedom to Gert-Jan. He often is outside in order to capture birds. In addition to a busy teaching job, photographing in nature also means an ultimate taste of freedom to Gert-Jan.
His favorite birding areas are the Veluwe (forest, heath and water) and the Dutch coast.
When creating nature-photos, Gert-Jan gives special attention to the colors and backgrounds. He also tries to capture the interaction between nature and people in his photographs.
