Odontomyia ornata is een wapenvlieg met het zwaartepunt van de Nederlandse verspreiding in de laagvenen. De larven leven in het water en filteren allerhande klein materiaal uit het water. Het is een relatief forse wapenvlieg, die daarnaast aan de gele vlekken op het achterlijkf en de relatief korte antennen te herkennen is.
Odontomyia ornata is a soldier-fly which mainly occurs in peat areas in the Netherlands. Thie larvae live in the water. |

Bleekgele Droogbloem is nog vrij zeldzaam, maar is als cultuurvolger aan een opmars bezig. In het Rotterdams havengebied staat het veel. Ook op station Zwolle is het een algemene plant. Ze wordt makkelijk kniehoog en wordt daarom niet snel over het hoofd gezien.
